Sweden-based Presona AB says it has developed a new cutting system for balers that uses “more robust and cheaper wear parts.” Most Presona balers built in 2006 and later can be upgraded with the new system, says the recycling machinery maker.

Presona states, “As most baler operators know, replacing the cutting knives that cut the wire can be quite costly. Presona has developed a new system to lower the costs."

“We have replaced the long cutting knives, which are expensive to manufacture, with smaller and more robust cutters,” says Presona CEO Stefan Ekström.

The new cutters are made of hardened steel (HRC 60) and are reversible, meaning they can increase the operational lifespan of the blades, says Presona. New Presona balers will be fitted with the new system and all Presona balers with the ECC tying system (2006 and later) can “easily be upgraded to the system with cutters,” the firm says.

“You will get the same great results as with the old system, but at a lower cost,” Ekström says.
